Q-Tip dazzled audiences during his headlining set at last weekend’s Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival with performance stacked with all-star guests. Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, Black Thought of the Roots, and Monie Love were among those to grace the stage alongside the rapper.
Q-Tip seemed to be getting back to basics with a distinctly classic hip-hop vibe, evident from both his own performance—including a cover of A Tribe Called Quest’s “Award Tour”—and his choice in guests.
An obviously amped Kanye West captivated the crowd with energetic renditions of his own hits “Dark Fantasy,” “Can’t Tell me Nothing,” and “All of the Lights,” and hyped the audience during Q-Tip’s Tribe Called Quest cover, jumping around the stage and into the audience in a manner not often seen from the notoriously intense performer.
