Third Man Records Reveals Two Previously Unreleased Early White Stripes Tracks

The White Stripes may have been defunct since this past February, but that hasn’t stopped Jack White’s Third Man Records from revealing a couple of previously unreleased early tracks from the band to members of The Vault earlier this week.

Naturally, the tracks, both covers, made their way from some fan club members’ hands to the Internet at large. The first track, “Signed D.C.” is an Arthur Lee penned songiv that relays tale of despondent drug addiction. The second track, “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long,” is an Otis Redding original reinterpreted into a relaxed, flowing White Stripes signature tone.

The tracks were recorded in 1997 in Detroit, shortly before the band’s live debut and release of their first single, “Let’s Shake Hands.”
