Beloved alternative rock outfit Jane’s Addiction recently revealed more details regarding their upcoming Capitol records LP, The Great Escape Artist, including a release date. More info after the jump.
Serving as the band’s fourth studio album, The Great Escape Artist will hit store shelves via Capitol on September 27. As we previously reported, TV on the Radio bassist Dave Sitek filled in for former Jane’s Addiction bassist Duff McKagan, who left the group in late 2010.
Once released, the upcoming album will mark the first new material from the group since 2003’s Strays. The group hasn’t been slow in promoting the album, however, constantly revealing details throughout 2011 and premiering video for the album’s first single, “End to the Lies,” back in May.
“It’s a strange mixture of that post-punk goth darkness that Jane’s had, with what’s going on today with groups like Muse and Radiohead. As much as I want to appease fans and make old Jane’s fans love me, I just can’t help myself from moving forward,” said frontman Perry Farrell in a recent release regarding the album.
So far, confirmed tracks on the album include “End to the Lies,” “Splash a Little Water” and “Irresistible Force,” the latter of which guitarist Dave Navarro said has “some magic captured on it” in a recent Reuters interview.
