Grace Potter & The Nocturnals Establish Music Festival

Bonnaroo won’t be the only festival Grace Potter & the Nocturnals will be appearing at – not by a long shot. The band will make their debut at Lollapalooza August 5; the following week they will bring their own Grand Point North Festival to Burlington Waterfront Park.

Grace said the band has been “waiting for this moment with bated breath.”

“It feels like the time is right for it, much like us as a band. There were times when people thought we weren’t gonna make it, so to still be here and going stronger than ever, I think the festival is gonna be a reflection of that. We’re not looking for something huge like Bonnaroo or Coachella. We want our festival to be small and delightful.”

Among the lineup is Taj Mahal, Fitz & the Tantrums, the Wood Brothers, Augustana, Hoots & Hellmouth, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Anais Mitchell several local acts including Rubblebucket and Chamberlin.

The first day will see a rock focus, while the second will zero in on roots – and of course Grace and the band will close the festival on both nights.

Drummer Matt Burr said, “We felt like we were ready to step up to the big leagues and try our own thing. We also felt like we had the right family together to do this right. The pieces of the puzzle are all in place, and here we are. We couldn’t be happier.”

Michelle Rick: I like Pop Rocks, and believe your life is incomplete if you've never seen Forrest Gump. I recently saw the Counting Crows live, for free, and it was not good. I was supposed to interview David Hasselhoff once but he never showed. And I love the band that was once Oasis.
