A Perfect Circle may be on tour this summer and plotting new album, but Maynard James Keenan has something else up his sleeve – Puscifer have announced they will release their second album, Conditions of My Parole, on October 18.
Described as “Twin Peaks in the desert,” Conditions of My Parole was recorded in Northern Arizona, where Keenan lives. The band actually set up a recording studio in his wine cellar.
The album was produced by Mat Mitchell, and features contributions from Telefon Tel Aviv’s Josh Eustis, British singer-songwriter Carina Rounds, Juliette Commagere (from Hello Stranger and The Bird and the Bee), Bat For Lashes drummer Sarah Jones, former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore (who’s also currently a drummer in One Day as a Lion with Zach De La Rocha), and Jeff Friedl and Matt McJunkins from ASHES dIVIDE. Said Keenan about the large number of collaborators, “Working with different people opens up a whole new set of questions and puzzles and solutions.”
After the album’s released in October, Keenan said he plans to hit the road with Puscifer for a two-month tour of shows similar to the group’s variety show-style gigs from 2009.
As for Keenan’s other groups, he says A Perfect Circle may release a track or two after their tour. Even better: It appears that Tool is working on new material. We’ll keep you posted.
