Ordinarily, news of the National Geographic Channel picking up four new shows wouldn’t make it on a music news site, but this isn’t ordinary. Among those four hosws is Animal Underworld, which is to be hosted by the aging alternative icon himself, Henry Rollins.
The show will reportedly feature owners of exotic animals as well as the people who partake in eating them. To the casual Rollins fan, this might sound odd, but given his affinity for snakes and early years as an employee at pet shop—coupled with his former hosting duties for Wild’s Snake Underworld—it really isn’t all that strange.
Beyond meeting exotic pet owners and eaters, the show will feature Rollins making his way to Arizona’s Road Kill Café to take a look at frog smoothies and other creepy edibles.
“It’s really an investigation into our relationship with animals. It’s covering the full range from the off-beat and quirky to the potentially illicit. And our approach to [the latter] is to make sure that we’re obviously not encouraging that behavior,” said NatGeo Vice President Geoff Daniels in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.
