Moogfest 2011 Announces Initial Lineup

The Initial lineup for Moogfest 2011 was announced Wednesday. Headliners include the Flaming Lips, Passion Pit, STS9, Ghostland Observatory, Crystal Castles, Chromeo, and Battles. The festival, in honor of Bob Moog, inventor of the Moog synthesizer, will take place October 28-30 in Asheville, North Carolina.

The event will bring together today’s synthesizer geniuses and 70’s innovators such as Tangerine Dream, in a rare U.S. performance, as well as Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Suicide.

The final lineup, when announced, will feature over 60 internationally acclaimed artists. Venues will include the Asheville Civic Center Arena, the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, and the Orange Peel Social & Pleasure Club. Workshops, talks, interactive experiences, and art exhibitions will be a part of the festival as well.

Weekend passes for the festival will go on sale Saturday, June 4th, at noon eastern on the festival website.

AC Entertainment founder Ashley Capps said:

“Last year’s reinvented Moogfest – the first to take place in Asheville – was an amazing experience – and the response from artists and fans alike was extraordinary. We’re very excited and inspire to build upon that success for the 2011 festival.”

Michelle Rick: I like Pop Rocks, and believe your life is incomplete if you've never seen Forrest Gump. I recently saw the Counting Crows live, for free, and it was not good. I was supposed to interview David Hasselhoff once but he never showed. And I love the band that was once Oasis.
