Lady Gaga Album Sale Spikes Amazon

Last Monday on Amazon.com, special sale of Lady Gaga’s, Born This Way, album drew in a massive influx of traffic causing a lag spike which slowed downloads to a crawl.  Though the high volume of traffic swamped Amazon’s bandwidth, those who made a legitimate purchase of the album on May 23 got the full album.

The sale brought so much traffic in, the downloads that ensued choked their server bandwidth leading to slow download speeds for customers.

Starting their download on Monday morning, SoundSpike reported that only three of the fourteen tracks on the album had finished downloading after 20 minutes.

Amazon.com also launched promotional sale of the album which included 20 gigabytes of drive space on their new Cloud Drive storage service.  Members of Amazon.com will now be able to upload their purchases to the cloud and stream their music instead of filling up their own drive space.
