Nature Calls
The Sound Of Everything is the new album by Seattleites turned folk rockers Kristin Garrad and Luke Bergman. Members of Seattle’s popular underground scene, the duo were discovered by Fleet Fox friend, Skye Skjelset and brought to Bella Union’s attention. Traveling around the greater Pacific Northwest, they took musical cues from nature’s bird calls, the rustling of leaves, the breezy wind and incorporated their nature-centric lyrics to create an album that is so minimalistic and raw.
“We want people to listen to this with headphones on and feel like they’re immersed in these locations, and there’s us, sitting next to you, playing a song.” the band quotes in their bio.
Kicking off the album, “Big Black Road” helps set the tone for the album with soft melodies, delicate strings and wispy vocals. Another album highlight is “Everything Turned Upside Down” which hints at sounds of accordion mixed in with the acoustic guitar. “Sun Cuz” and “On and On” are additional standouts with captivating vocals harmonizing over the acoustic guitar to create a fresh and an engrossing musical mix.
The Sound Of Everything is immediately captivating and whimsical.
