Bloc Party (Atlantic Records) went on hiatus in 2009, and besides a Christmas picture on their Twitter, there hasn’t been much news to report – until now. The group has announced it’s ending its hiatus and is in the process of putting together songs for a new LP.
Guitarist Russell Lissack spoke with NME recently about the status of the group’s reunion:
Kele [Okereke] and I started working on Bloc Party stuff. We’re having a bit of a break until the festivals are over, because people have commitments during the summer, but we’re going to get back properly in September and sit in a rehearsal studio to work on new band material.”
The group will likely not play any shows this year, though frontman Okereke has a number of solo gigs lined up for the summer.
