Josh Freese—best known for his work with Devo, A Perfect Circle and the Vandals—announced a tiered pricing plan today that coincides with the release of his newest EP, My New Friends. The tiers run from mild to ridiculous, with options including a Build-A-Bear trip with Johnny Knoxville and a day at the spa with Twiggy Ramirez.
Freese is currently offering a dozen different packages for his five-song EP, which was recorded after meeting with package purchasers of his 2009 EP, Since 1972.
“I didn’t want to go the whole ‘wacky special package’ route again but after coming up with a few things that were making me laugh, I decided that I should have a little fun with it again,” said Freese of his newly unveiled tier system.
At $5, the cheapest tier includes only a digital download of the new EP. For a physical CD Digipak of the EP, you can go up to the second tier ($12).
For $50, the third tier includes a thank you phone call from Freese, along with a CD copy of the EP, CD/DVD of Since 1972 and an “I Heart Josh Freese’s New Friends” bumper sticker.
The next tier up, at $125, includes all three of Freese’s solo albums, a thank you phone call, a signed set of drum sticks, a copy of Freese’s fifth grade report card, one of Freese’s boarding pass from a past flight, a bumper sticker and a mystery item.
Here’s where it starts to get ridiculous. $350 buys you a lunch date with Freese at P.F. Chang’s in Long Beach, five copies of My New Friends, a report card, a bumper sticker a signed drumhead, a signed set of drumsticks and a signed photo. This tier is limited to 25 buyers.
The following packages cost $7500 each for one buyer apiece only and all include, in addition to their individual unique components, 10 copies of My New Friends, a song about you on the next record, a $50 gift certificate to P.F. Chang’s, Freese other two solo releases, a report card, a bumper sticker, a signed drumhead and a set of signed drumsticks:
