Willie Nelson Uses Music to Stay Out of Jail

Willie Nelson has remained free from jail because he has agreed to perform a song for the Texan court that heard his case.

The country musician found himself in hot water last November when he was charged with possessing marijuana. The initial charge was for possession of six ounces, but it was eventually lessened to three after the search of his tour bus.

Even after the downgrade in charges, Nelson could have been faced with a $2000 fine and 180 days in jail.

Nelson’s Texan prosecutor, Kit Bramblett, a lifelong fan of the musician, chose to lessen his punishment to a $100 fine and a performance of “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain”.
