!!! (Chk Chk Chk) Live at the MWTX Party SXSW

The band impossible to easily explain what they’re called to others, !!! (most commonly pronounced Chk Chk Chk), played near sunset at the MWTX party. As with !!!’s usual level of quality, this show was an excellent dance freak-out. Nic Offer is an exciting frontman, strutting around the stage like a latter-day Mick Jagger. If you saw this guy in real life, he might just look like any ordinary dude with floppy hair, but in a live setting girls go crazy for him. Like any good rock-and-roller he accomplishes this the same way Elvis did, constantly shaking his hips. Sometimes folks, that’s all it takes. All posturing aside, !!! kill live, a nonstop piece of funked-out dance madness, it’s criminal that they’re not bigger than they are. After years of hard work, they deserve much larger audiences even than this. Shilpa Ray whom we covered earlier in the week with her band The Happy Hookers joined the band for their recent single “Jamie, My Intentions Are Bass.”
