Bradford Cox is known mostly for his indie noise project Deerhunter. However, Under the Radar snagged an exclusive performance by his alter ego project Atlas Sound. Unlike Deerhunter, Cox’s emphasis here was in atmospheric layers of sound undulating, building, dying and then building again. Cox seemed like an unfocused kid, joyouslly triggering artful dissonance through a sequencing effect pedal and then rushing to the back of the stage to bang on a drum for a moment. This performance easily trumped Owen Pallett’s from earlier. It was truly beautifl dissonance. It ran just a bit too long, but otherwise it was great.
