Another piece of the South By Southwest experience is the radical transformation from up-and-comer into veritable sensation. One act who looks to be in the running for that crown this year is Foster the People. Playing to a packed day party thrown by LA-based label IAMSOUND Records, the just barely on the market band had a crowd dancing like they were a venerable career act. Heavy on keyboards, the group worked a small stage as best they could. They even had a small singalong for single “Pump up the Kicks.” Very good, but so far more hype than true breakout potential.
