The Mountain Goats (Merge Records) are stepping up to help the victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan by auctioning off a demo cassette tape of a single unreleased song.
Lead singer and songwriter John Darnielle took to the the band’s blog yesterday to report the auction of a tape labeled “FRENETIQUES demos,” featuring an unreleased song about “about doom & disaster” called “Eugene Sue.” The band notes that the song has not been digitzed or saved in any way, meaning the winner of the auction will be in possession of the only copy of “Eugene Sue.”
Fans can head over to this eBay page to bid on the tape.
