Hollywood Bowl Adds New Events to Its Summer Season

This year marks the first all-comedy performance at the Hollywood Bowl. This historic event will feature Eddie Izzard and will take place July 20 at 8:00. In addition to Eddie Izzard, the Hollywood Bowl has also added many other performances.

Added shows are as follows:

7/20- Eddie Izzard, Stripped to the Bowl
9/2- Totally 80s Hollywood Bowl hosted by frontwoman Teri Nunn
9/11- 2011 KCRW’s World Festival series concludes with The National, Neko Case and Sharon Van Etten

Additional Artists Added to Previously Announced Shows:

6/26- Towa Tei, Buffalo Daughter and Taiko Center of Los Angeles directed by Rev. Tom Kurai join previously announced artists Yellow Magic Orchestra and Cibo Matto on KCRW’s World Festival series Big in Japan.

7/10- Shreya Ghoshal, special guest added to KCRW’s World Festival series Journey to India with A.R. Rahman and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

7/24- Janelle Monáe, Grace Potter, Bombino, and The Soul Seekers join previously announced artists Rocky Dawuni and Ceci Bastida on KCRW’s World Festival series Global Soul with Rickey Minor, Stevie Wonder and friends.

7/31- Special guest Ras Michael joins Reggae Night X and previously announced artists for Tuff Gong Worldwide & Ziggy MarleySalute Legends of Reggae with special guests, Toots Hibbert and Mighty Diamonds.

8/14- Bobby Caldwell, Shelia E., Larry Graham and Graham Central Station join previously announced artists Dave Koz & Friends and Spyro Gyra on Smooth Summer Jazz.

8/17- Chaka Khan added to previously announced artists Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Cassandra Wilson, and special guests on Joni’s Jazz.

8/24- Arturo Sandoval & the LA All Star Big Band join previously announced artists Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club featuring Omara Portuondo, Ninety Miles featuring Stefon Harris, David Sanchez and Christian Scott.

8/26- Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman makes a special appearance to narrate Williams’ Suite from The Reivers onJohn Williams: Maestro of the Movies.

8/28- Mike Patton, Ed Droste, Victoria Legrand and Nika Roza Danilova (Zola Jesus) added to the Serge Gainsbourg Tributewith previously announced artists Jean Claude Vannier, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and special guests Beck, China Forbes, Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl.

9/7- The Brothers Johnson, Richard Bona, and Alfredo Rodriguez added to previously announced artists The Quincy Jones Band featuring The Global Gumbo All-Stars & Friends, Patti Austin, Nikki Yanofsky and special guests.
