Psychic TV to Perform at SXSW

Legendary performance art/experimental outfit Psychic TV, led by the inimitable Genesis P-Orridge, recently confirmed that they will perform at this year’s SXSW on March 15 in conjunction with the release of Marie Losier’s upcoming film, The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye.  The upcoming performance will mark the group’s first Austin show since 1988.

The performance scheduled to begin at 12:30 AM on March 15 at the Elysium in downtown Austin.

Almost consistently a revolving door of talented musicians, the incarnation of PST that will perform at SXSW started in 2003 when P-Orridge and Edley O’dowd of Boodle Boy and is technically known as PTV3.

Performances by PTV have been rare since Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge passed away in 2007.  In fact, PTV3 stopped regularly touring in 2009, saying that only individual shows would take place if the group felt up to it.

P-Orridge, also of Throbbing Gristle, announced via his website in 2009 that he decided to stop touring because he wanted to concentrate on writing, art and music.

The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye is a full-length documentary that looks at the life, times and work of Lady Jaye and Genesis.
