William Shatner Teams Up with Zakk Wylde

The legendary William Shatner recently tweeted that he is currently in the studio knocking out his upcoming album, Seeking Major Tom, with some help from Black Label Society’s Zakk Wylde.  Yes, you read that right.

Shatner tweeted the news a few days ago:

Just watched tracks being laid down by Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society for my upcoming record SEEKING MAJOR TOM. My best, Bill

There is no current street date for Seeking Major Tom, but the album will serve as Shatner’s seventh musical effort.

There is also some video evidence of the collaboration, which you can watch below.  The video shows Wylde laying down an inspired, fiery iteration of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” while Shatner looks on from an office chair:

This is not the first time that Shatner has worked with an unlikely—or maybe mismatched—collaborator.  His 2004 album, Has Been, features production by Ben Folds and collabs with the self-proclaimed “aging countercultural icon” Henry Rollins, country guitarist Brad Paisley and High Fidelity author Nick Hornby.
