Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore will be making his first foray into the Vin Du Select Qualitite series, a limited edition set of vinyl-only acoustic guitar records, early this year with 12 String Meditations for Jack Rose.
Moore’s effort will be in tribute to Jack Rose, an influential steel string guitar player who was based out of Philadelphia, Pa and passed away as a result of a heart attack in 2009.
The VDSQ series, organized by Plastic Records and Swingset Magazine’s Steve Lowenthal, features previous releases from Codeine’s Chris Brokaw and Emeralds’ Mark McGuire. Other upcoming releases are in the works from up-and-coming axeman Matthew Mullane and Six Parts Seven’s Allen Karpinksi.
In addition to working on the Jack Rose tribute, Moore is also collaborating with Beck for an upcoming solo album on Matador entitled Benediction.
