TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek to Play on Jane’s Addiction’s New Album

Jane’s Addiction – sans Duff McKagan, who recently left the group – plan to have an album out in summer 2011, and the group has very special bassist lined up to take his place – Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio.

Back in November, Jane’s Addiction announced they’d be heading into the studio in December 2010 with producer Rich Costey, but that didn’t answer the question of who’d be on the bass guitar. McKagan left the group recently to concentrate on his other projects, including Velvet Revolver, writing a book and starting a new business.

Now the group’s announced that TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek – also known for his production work with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals and Massive Attack  – will be playing bass and writing on the as-yet-untitled album.

No word on whether or not Sitek will join the group, but all signs point toward no. In addition to being involved in a number of other projects, bassist Chris Chaney – who played bass on Jane’s Addiction’s last album Strays – played bass at the band’s two most recent shows in Aspen, Colorado.
