Launching their career by providing the soundtrack to commercials for everything from Apple products to videogames, Röyksopp is making waves in the music industry. Svein Berge and Tobjørn Brundtland, the duo that comprises the Scandinavian music act, released the follow-up to Junior, their 2009 album, on November 23rd.
The digital release date to the fittingly-titled Senior was nearly a month earlier, on October 26th.
Berge and Brundtland, stated, in regards to the recent release: “The two albums have a kinship, in that they represent Röyksopp’s two very different artistic expressions. Junior – with emphasis on vocals, accessible melodies and harmonies – has the energy, the inquisitive temper and confident “hey-ho,let’s go!” attitude of youth, whereas Senior is the introverted, dwelling and sometimes graceful counterpart – brimful with dark secrets and distorted memories, insisting, “I’m old, I’ve got experience…”
The 9-track album was recorded during the same sessions as its predecessor. See their NSFW video for “The Drug.”
