It’s been a busy two weeks in The Decemberists camp, and the hits keep on comin’. Today the group announced North American and European tour dates for early 2011 in support of their upcoming full-length The King Is Dead, and an appearance this Thursday on “Conan.”
The group starts their 16-city tour at the end of January in New York and winds its way across American and Canada before ending in the band’s hometown of Portland, OR. Two weeks later the band embarks on a European tour.
In addition, the band plays “Conan” this Thursday, November 18, with special guest Gillian Welch (who guests on a number of the tracks on The King Is Dead).
The tour dates come on top of a literal heaping mound of awesome Decemberists news. In the past two weeks, the band’s released a free download of the album’s first single, “Down By The Water,” artwork and tracklist for the LP and a trailer for the album.
