Following the 2009 break-up of LA power pop band The Broken West, vocalist Ross Flournoy founded Apex Manor, whose debut album drops January 25. Check out a song from The Year of Magical Drinking after the jump.
Ross Flournoy became motivated to give music a second go after entering an online songwriting contest via NPR’s Monitor Mix. The song, “Under The Gun”, was not only success in the contest, but it made its way onto Apex Manor’s first album, The Year of Magical Drinking. Download the song here.
Named after the apartment complex where Flournoy and long time friend and collaborator Adam Vine, Apex Manor was formed when the two began songwriting together, and Flournoy later collaborated with a fellow Broken West bandmate, Brian Whelan and hit the studios to record some demos. Lots of time spent slaving in three studios throughout LA resulted in The Year of Magical Drinking, produced by Dan Long (Film School, Local Natives) and Brian Whelan.
Apex Manor is currently planning an extensive tour for 2011. Stay updated by checking their website for tour dates and other band news.
