After a long-running court battle with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Limewire has been forced to stop distributing and supporting its file-sharing software. On Oct. 26, the company received permanent injunction from US District Court Judge Kimba Wood effectively shutting down Limewire. A damages hearing is set for January, which may find Limewire responsible for over $1 billion.Source
