Turzi Announces B Album

Experimental French artist Turzi has announced the details of his sophomore album, B, due out September 24th. The album, released by French label Record Makers, is the follow-up to his debut album, A.

The band’s signature emphasis on improvisation was captured on A – continental rock with tinges of Ennio Morricone. Romain Turzi, the band’s leader, hails from Versailles and spent his youth delving into musical experimentation. Heavy use of synthesizers and access to live shows around Paris factored into his development as a musician.

In April 2008, Turzi was personally invited to support Simian Mobile Disco and The Whip on an NME-endorsed tour around the United Kingdom.

“Beijing,” the album’s opening track, evokes a Sergio Leone Western, as soundtracked by Black Sabbath. “Bombay” is a track drenched in the energy and sweat of a live show. The backing track to “Baltimore” found its way to Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream, who then agreed to sing vocals without any prior knowledge of Turzi. His distinct vocal style complements the psychedelic vibes and Acid House undertones of the song.

B Tracklist:

1. Beijing

2. Buenos Aires

3. Bombay (available for download here)

4. Bethlehem

5. Baltimore (ft. Bobby Gillespie)

6. Brasilia

7. Bangkok

8. Baden Baden

Michelle Rick: I like Pop Rocks, and believe your life is incomplete if you've never seen Forrest Gump. I recently saw the Counting Crows live, for free, and it was not good. I was supposed to interview David Hasselhoff once but he never showed. And I love the band that was once Oasis.
