Richie Hawtin Releases Massive Plastikman Retrospective Collection, Goes On Tour With Old Material Remixed

Richie Hawtin rose to fame in the 1990s as Plastikman, one of minimal techno’s best producers and advocates.  Having recently re-embraced his once-famous moniker, he is about to go on tour with some of his most famous material from his early career and set it to complex and intricately-crafted visual show.  Moreover, he’s releasing a comprehensive retrospective collection entitled Arkives.  Arkives will contain every major release from his career, including rare releases off out-of-print and rare vinyl.  It will be released in four formats: Reference is an 11 CD + DVD + book collection, Analog is 6 180-gram LPs and a limited edition poster, Digital is a selection of the music from the CD and LP edition in high-quality MP3 digital download, or a fourth package called Collection with all three packages.  Only as many copies are pre-ordered between October 10th and December 31st so make sure you pre-order here.

Arkives Reference contains the bulk of the material on CD including remasters of his studio albums Sheet One, Musik, Recycled Plastik, Consumed, Artifakts (B.C.), and Closer.  In addition, Rekonstruktions contains a full disc of remixes of other artists’ work, Replikants features brand-new remixes commissioned for Arkives, while Nostalgik is a collection of his rare, out-of-print and vinyl-only releases.  Two more full CDs of unreleased material wrap up the Reference collection.

Nathaniel Ott Homer: I am a graduate of Vassar College ('10) with a degree in art history. I love making music even though I have no idea how to play an instrument. I like things big, bold, weird and drab. I like things psychotic and wacky, yet sweet and serene and subtle and sincere.
