Kayne West to Release 40-Minute Video for “Runaway”

New York Magazine recently reported that Kanye West will release 40-minute music video—the longest music video in history—for his new track, “Runaway,” which he debuted this week at MTV’s Video Music Awards.

Currently being filmed in Prague, the “Runaway” video will feature supermodel Selita Ebanks.  Additionally, it will be the longest music video in history, taking the distinction from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” which clocks in at 39 minutes and 31 seconds.

West described the concept of the video to New York Magazine as follows:

“It’s the story of a phoenix fallen to Earth, and I make her my girlfriend, and people discriminate against her and eventually she has to burn herself alive and go back to her world. I’ve been feeling the idea of the phoenix. It’s been in my heart for a while. It’s maybe parallel to my career. I threw a Molotov cocktail on my career last year, in a way, and I had to come back as a better person.”
