Funkstress Janelle Monae has released the video for “Cold War,” the second single off of her first full-length album, The ArchAndroid. The ArchAndroid was released back in May on P. Diddy’s Bad Boy Records and features hip hop superstars Big Boi, B.O.B and Lupe Fiasco. The super up-close-and-personal video for “Cold War,” however, features no other than Monae herself. Click “read more” for the video and more. The video was shot in the black box auditorium at the Palace of the Dogs sanitarium and is comprised solely of the first take.

Monae will perform alongside Alicia Keys, Sade and Jay-Z at the 7th Annual “Keep A Child Alive” Black Ball at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Sept. 30. Her tour with Of Montreal begins Sept. 13 in Washington D.C. Find tour dates here.
