The Octopus Project Announce Release of SXSW Jewel “Hexadecagon”

At this year’s SXSW, experimental pop rockers The Octopus Project debuted Hexadecagon, “sixteen-sided audiovisual panorama.” The show was a massive success, and now the band is officially releasing the music on October 26th on Peek-A-Boo Records. In March, The Octopus Project played Hexadecagon, wherein the band arranged eight speakers in a circle around the audience, with the audience surrounding the band in the center, with eight synchronized video projections playing around the crowd. Here’s a picture to give you a better idea:

The band played Hexadecagon twice to over-capacity crowds at SXSW, and USA Today named it one of the top five performances of the festival. They then spent the next two months recording the material with John Congleton (St. Vincent, The Walkmen) for an official album release, which will see the light of day on October 26.

The band has also promised a fall tour in support of the album, though no official dates have been announced yet.
