Tragic news out of Kansas: A concertgoer at the popular Vans Warped Tour died at the festival’s stop in Bonner Springs this past Monday.
Curtis Alan DeForest, 26, was declared dead at Providence Medical Center on Monday following the all-day concert held at Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone. The cause of death is still unannounced, but officials from Capitol Federal Park released the following statement regarding the availability of water throughout the venue:
As is the standard practice at all shows that visit the amphitheater, patrons were allowed to bring in their own bottles of water. Once inside, the permanent water refill locations that are throughout the venue were in operation for all patrons throughout the day.”
Festival organizers offered their “thoughts and prayers to the young man’s family and friends. Tour organizers are working closely with Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone staff and local officials to determine the actual facts surrounding this tragic incident and will make further details known as they become available.”
Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone remains closed while police continue their investigation.
