Electronic duo YACHT are still riding high on last year’s DFA Records album See Mystery Lights, but they’re already preparing to head back into the studio. Before they do, however, they’ve released cover of an X song and have a couple more shows in Europe and the US you can catch.
“Nausea” is a track from punk rock band X’s debut album, 1980’s Los Angeles, and the duo covered the song for the BBC. The band had this to say about the cover:
X has long been one of YACHT’s favorite bands. Doing a cover of their “Nausea” allowed us to lay hands, albeit momentarily, on the very structure of their greatness. To get lost inside a song we love, a song immortalized in our minds for its chaotic and sludgy performance in the opening credits of The Decline of Western Civilization. We wear Nausea like a cloak, a little ill-fitting perhaps, but draped with reverence. This recording was made live on BBC Radio 6 on the Mark Riley show.
