Insomniac Events, the event planning company behind the annual Electric Daisy Carnival music festival, recently announced that they are working with Investigative Advisory Group (IAG) to analyze and establish new safety protocols for events put on at large venues. One new protocol has emerged thus far, that being an “18 and Older” policy that is to be instituted immediately.
This announcement comes just a few weeks after Sasha Rodriguez, 15, died of a suspected drug overdose at this year’s Electric Daisy Carnival, an event that has resulted in the halting of raves in LA.
The company will now be using handheld scanners to verify the IDs of all ticket holders.
Minors who purchased tickets to events before the institution of the new policy can send a detailed email to refunds@insomniac.com to receive a refund.
Pasquale Rotella, CEO of Insomniac Events, released a statement regarding the new policy:

We are confident that Investigative Advisory Group will provide the right additions to our existing procedures, and help us to continue to raise the bar for music events. Over the past 17 years, Insomniac has created some of the largest and most successful dance music festivals in North America. We love our community and strive to be the best at what we do, and this includes event safety.
Though dance music is enjoyed by people of all ages, we are introducing an 18 and older policy at our events as we await Investigative Advisory Group’s recommendations. Insomniac remains committed to providing a place for our guests to celebrate safely, and we plan to share our findings with all of our event venues.”
Insomniac Events, which has been in business since 1993, has hosted 250 events throughout the US.
