Rage Against the Machine and Conor Oberst To Play Benefit Concert

Rage Against the Machine has announced concert at the Hollywood Palladium on July 23rd, 2010 to support several organizations combating SB 1070, the anti-immigration law that is set to go into effect July 29th in Arizona. Proceeds from the concert and donations raised by the Sound Strike Fund will exceed $300,000 and truly change the lives and resources of community organizations, student groups, activists, legal defense funds, and more.

Two organizations that are in need of immediate assistance are Puente, Arizona and The Florence Project. Puente Arizona has been a huge supporter for civil and human rights in the state of Arizona, and have been a big help in mobilizing the public against SB 1070. They work directly with the people who will be most affected by the passage of this law. The Florence Project provides and helps coordinate legal services and other social services to the people who are detained in Arizona. They provide detained people with council access and make sure they are treated fairly and justly by the judicial system.

This concert is park of a week of national activism leading up to July 29th, a day of noncompliance and resistance to the law being enacted that day.
