Arcade Fire Pledge Support For Haiti

Arcade Fire have donated their songs to the Super Bowl and written articles in the press urging people to help Haiti recover from the tragic earthquake that hit the country earlier this year. Now they’ve come up with a very special way to pledge even more support.

At the band’s show last night in Quebec City, the band announced that it will match donations made to the new charity KANPE (which means “to stand” in Haitian Creole) up to one million dollars.

Frontman Win Butler said that “everyone who donates to KANPE, our band will match it up to $1 million.”

He added, “Please take our money from us!”

The band was also joined by members of the Haitian band Ram, who guested on a very special version of the band’s 2004 song “Haiti.”

To make a $5 donation text STAND to 30333. For further information on KANPE, visit Kanpe.org.
