M.I.A. Says Government is Behind Facebook, Google

M.I.A. continues to make headlines this week, with her most recent controversial message concerning the government’s involvement with popular social networking websites.  Click “read more” for more info.

The pop provocateur alleged in a recent Nylon interview that the government was directly involved with the development of social media:

“Google and Facebook were developed by the CIA, and when you’re on there, you have to know that.”

Before attempting to warn the masses about social media and search engines, M.I.A. made headlines by posting the phone number of a New York Times Staffer.
