Department of Justice investigators have been looking into Apple’s business practices, interested in learning if Apple has been enforcing anticompetitive tactics, through interviews with major music labels and digital music retailers. One particular example is Amazon’s “MP3 Daily Deal” – prices on specific songs are discounted and promoted heavily on its release date. However, Apple managers are not happy with this program, stating that they refuse to promote any music included in Amazon’s promotion. Companies like Apple that dominate a market and use aggressive strategies to be number one can be seen as just good business, however their hefty market share is causing the Department of Justice to be a little suspicious.
