An institution for the last 25 years, southern California’s Street Scene Festival has played host to innumerable rock acts – last year’s two-day fest included performances from Modest Mouse, The Dead Weather and Cake. But citing financial concerns, festival organizers have canceled plans for this year’s concert.
Low attendance for the 2009 Street Scene Festival led to monstrous financial losses for organizers, who were forced to liquidate $2.8 million in assets to pay creditors, performers and former employees.
Despite this year’s cancellation, festival founder Rob Hagey said this isn’t the end of Street Scene: “I believe Street Scene will have a resurgence. I believe the future will be bright for Street Scene.”
