Phil Spector, the legendary producer who worked with acts such as the Ramones, John Lennon and Tina Turner and was convicted of murder in 2009, will be receiving producer credit for an upcoming album entitled Out of My Chelle, a release that will serve as the debut album from his wife, Rachelle Spector. Out of My Chelle will be released in physical form on July 20 via Genius 4Ever Records, but a digital copy will be available for download by June 8. The album, which was recorded before Spector was imprisoned in 2009, will mark the producer’s first major recording project in more than 30 years.
“I trusted her with my life and songs and production. She’s fantastic on this album,” said Spector of his wife’s performance in a recent press release.
Out of My Chelle is described as “upbeat, mainstream adult pop, with hints of R&B, rock and dance,” will feature the new single “Here in My Heart,” a song dedicated to the love that the couple shares.
“Like the lyric says, ‘no matter where you are, you’re here in my heart.’ Phil is actually far away, but he’s still the shining light in my life, and I can always feel him here with me,” said Mrs. Spector of the single, who married the producer in 2006.
Phil Spector, who is currently serving a sentence of 19 years to life, was convicted in the February 2003 murder of actress Lana Clarkson. The initial hearing regarding Clarkson’s murder was declared a mistrial in 2007 due to a hung jury, but a second trial in 2009 landed Spector in prison.
Spector is currently being held at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in Corcoran, King’s County.
