Against Me! frontman Tom Gabel recently wrote short piece regarding the group’s newest single “I Was a Teenage Anarchist,” which comes off of their upcoming album, White Crosses, for Antimusic’s “Singled Out” series. Check out the link after the jump.

The post primarily discusses Gabel’s life as a punk in Florida, his political maturation and early Against Me! solo releases.
Of his political upbringing, Gabel says the following:
“I got into radical politics when I was 15 years old, shortly after discovering punk music. At first I thought punk was just nihilism, misanthropy, self destruction, Sid Vicious. Then when I was 15 I got beat up by the cops; the experience changed my life. […] The experience politicized me. I dropped out of high school. I started doing a zine. I started a distro of political pamphlets and Anarcho-punk records. I started a Food Not Bombs chapter with a group of friends. We met other like minded people across Florida and started a radical activist network.”
Against Me! has come under fire in recent years by fans claiming that the band sold out with the release of 2007’s New Wave.
White Crosses is slated for a June 7 release.
