Travis McCoy Set To Release Lazarus

Gym Class Heroes frontman, Travis McCoy is set to release his first solo project Lazarus June 8, but wants to squash the negative press at the same time. McCoy wants to assure fans that the release of Lazarus is by no means the end Gym Class Heroes. Travis sat down with Billboard to discuss the project that took a year and a half to record stating,Lazarus is dominated by hip-hop flavors, but at the same time my love for live instrumentation is still reflected on the record.”

Travis, who prefers being called Travie, said he scrapped a lot of the early recorded material due to it being “kind of somber and a little too personal”. McCoy also went through a very “shitty” and public break-up with pop star Katy Perry during the early stages of recording, which was also a reason for trashing the tracks.

Starting with Too Fast For Love on April 28, McCoy plans to tour extensively to support “Lazarus” and “make sure this record becomes a household object — and hopefully not a coaster.” The first single ‘Billionaire’ featuring Bruno Mars will be released soon and producers for the album include T-Pain, the Smeezingtons, the Stereotypes, Lucas Secon and Mars.
