Rolling Stone announced today that they will be making their back catalog of archived issues available on the internet via their own website by Monday of next week. However, the archives—which cover just over 43 years worth of music reporting—will not be available for free.
The long-time music publication is calling the archive service “Rolling Stone All Access” and will charge users either $3.95 per month or $29.99 a year. Users of the forthcoming service will have access to every new issue on their days of release and will be able to access virtually all of Rolling Stone’s output since its start in 1967. Additionally, those who sign up for the service will be provided with a print subscription.
Spin recently followed in similar course of action when they made their archives available online via Google Books last month.
