Erykah Badu has pushed back the release date of her fifth studio album, New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh to March 30 via Universal/Motown Records. The highly anticipated album will feature production from 9th Wonder, James Poyser, J Dilla and Madlib. The ‘On and On’ singer/actress has also released bonus web-only track, “Jump In The Air,” featuring Bilal and Lil Wayne. The track was originally set to appear on the album, but was scrapped after it leaked in December.
Badu spoke of the albums title stating, “I called it Part II: The Return of the Ankh because this album is the sister of the left side of my brain, it is the right side. Badu also described the album as more of an emotional and flowy album that talks about feelings, unlike Part I which was more focused on society and politics. “It reminds of the days of ‘Baduizm,'” Badu added, “this is just about beats and rhymes in a cipher.”
