Janet Jackson Recruits Rodney Jerkins For An ‘Emotional’ LP

Super-producer Rodney Jerkins sat down with MTV News to discuss what fans can expect from Janet Jackson on her eleventh studio album, set to be released in the first quarter of 2010. “Since we’ve been working, I feel like the studio has become a second home for her”, Jerkins stated. The Grammy Award-winning producer said fans can expect an emotionally driven album, that won’t have the futuristic sound of Jackson’s 2008 project Discipline, via Island Def Jam.

.”You gotta understand, she lost her brother, and was in a relationship for seven years that’s over now”, Jerkins added.

Rodney said Janet wanted to start working on the as-yet-untitled project by recording 10 dance tracks, which are influenced by worldwide sounds such as African rhythms and Brazilian music, and has recorded a track with Pitbull last week. Fans will get the chance to here what Janet has been working the past few months, with the release of Number Ones on November 17. The two disc-set will feature 34 of Jackson’s greatest hits, including the new single ‘Make Me’. The Grammy Award-winner has also been confirmed as a performer for FM’s Jingle Ball set to take place December 6 at London’s O2 Arena. Janet is currently working on her book, True You, and will be featured in Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get,Too, both set to be released next year.
