Sony Music Entertainment announced today that new Michael Jackson song entitled “This Is It” will be released as a single on October 12. The song is a part of a two-disc album inspired by the upcoming film This Is It, which chronicles the final days of Jackson rehearsing for his comeback concert dates. The song includes backing vocals by his brothers, the Jacksons. The This Is It double album will be released worldwide on October 28 and in the United States on October 27. The song appears in two versions on the first disc, along with original masters of Michael Jackson’s hits in the order they appear in the film. The second disc on the album features previously unreleased versions of more of Jackson’s hits as well as an unheard spoken word poem entitled “Planet Earth.”
The This Is It film, released by Sony Pictures, will hit theaters on October 28 for a two week run.
