Tegan and Sara have announced the release of their sixth studio album, Sainthood, on October 27th. The duo say that Sainthood “is about obsession with romantic ideals. In the service of relationships we practice being perfect. We practice our sainthood in the hope that we will be rewarded with adoration. As we are driven to become anything for someone else, we sometimes become martyrs for our cause.”
In addition, Tegan and Sara are releasing a set of books, titled On, In, At. This three book set chronicles three separate periods in their lives through both writing and photography – their 2008 US National tour, 2009 Australian tour, and a joint writing session in New Orleans for the new album. To be sold during the pre-sale in conjunction with the album, more information will be coming to their website.
Dates for their upcoming tour, set to begin in February 2010, will be announced soon.
