Florida punk band Against Me! are currently in the studio in Los Angeles, CA to record their follow up to 2007’s New Wave. The band is working on their second Sire Records release with veteran producer Butch Vig who also produced their 2007 release and is known for his work with Green Day, Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins, among many others.
Against Me! frontman Tom Gabel began writing the songs that will appear on the album more than a year and a half ago. Pre-production with Vig began in early July and the band, which also includes guitarist James Bowman, bassist Andrew Seward, and new drummer George Rebelo (formerly of Hot Water Music) began tracking in mid-August. The band spent the past two years touring non-stop in support of New Wave, and the new album is expected to be released next year.
