Discovery, featuring Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend and Wes Miles of Ra Ra Riot, are set to release their debut album LP on July 7. The two friends began recording together in 2005 and continued to do so even after the success of their respective bands. The album is partly an attempt to realize Miles’ concept of a band where everyone plays synthesizers and Batmanglij’s concept for an album where hand claps keep the backbeat instead of snare drums. The album features Batmanglij and Miles each singing half of the songs and guest vocals from Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend and Angel Deradoorian of Dirty Projectors. The album is described as “summery and danceable” – check out the track”Orange Shirt” to get a taste.
