The popular Times Square Virgin Megastore will be closing in April. Even though it is the highest volume music store in the US, the store is shutting down because of a real estate venture that would garner more revenue per year. Forever 21, the women’s clothing chain, will rent out the space for $700 per square foot, unlike Virgin who paid $54 per square foot. Although the premiere Times Square location is closing, New Yorkers still have the Union Square Virgin Megastore but their future is on shaky ground as well.
