iTunes Now DRM-Free with Variable Pricing

It took a while, but Apple Macintosh commander in chief Steve Jobs announced at the MacWorld Conference on January 6 that all 4 of the major labels will now bring DRM-free music to iTunes. iTunes will also embrace a new variable pricing structure that will see songs priced at 69¢, 99¢ and $1.29. The statement was made that more songs will be 69¢ than $1.29.

For those wondering about the DRM-free music, 8 million of the 10 million songs are currently availble sans DRM with the remaining 2 million to have their DRM amputated by the end of March.

For those with the new iPhone 3G, music can now be previewed and purchased in iTunes via the phone’s 3G network.http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/itunes-dumps-drm-adds-variable-pricing-1003927138.story
